| | Course Objectives | The course showcases how Singapore uses technology to manage transport systems effectively in an urban setting: traffic management, online systems for convenient transactions on road vehicle matters, mobile and online travel news and information, and the use of contactless smartcard technology for electronic payment on public and private transport systems, as well as non-transit transactions.
| | Course Synopsis & Methodology | The topics include:
- Traffic modelling
- Traffic signal control system, including cameras at traffic junctions
- Electronic Road Pricing (ERP)
- Traffic information and advisory system for expressways
- Intelligent Transport System (ITS) control centre
- Integrated Intelligent transport system "iTransport" for dissemination of information on road traffic conditions and the public transport system for the convenience of commuters
- Online system for payment of vehicle taxes and inspections
- Fare ticketing system and electronic payment for parking
- Case study / Group exercises
- Site visits

The course also includes dialogues with senior staff of the Singapore Land Transport Authority (LTA), and visits to public transport infrastructure, public transport operators and public transport operation control centres.

- Mid to senior level government officials who are involved in managing a major aspect of the transport system, and who are involved in the planning, implementing or enhancing the technology of its transport system
- Nominated by their respective Governments
- Proficient in spoken and written English
